Network migration under way at Cannon

The latest transformation for 27th Special Operations Wing will be the migration of its network services from Air Combat Command to Air Force Special Operations Command.

The migration began October 19 and once it is completed on October 31, users of the Cannon unclassified network will share the same network services as other AFSOC units. This means faster network issue resolution, transparent SharePoint services and enhancements that will increase collaboration to the geographically separated units in AFSOC.

With this change, there are steps network users must to take to ensure operations are not diminished during the transition.

First, keep up to date on the status of the migration by visiting

The schedule for each unit’s migration will be posted on the site to ensure network users have ample time to prepare for the migration. Cannon users should review the schedule to prepare for the switch. Also on that site, will be mandatory checklists and questionnaires that must be filled out during the migration.

Second, it is for critical network users to back up their files frequently before the migration. Things like Outlook personal folders, documents on local workstations and files on the network user directory should be backed up no later than the day before the scheduled switchover. This ensures that files are secure during the transition, and available if anything unexpected occurs the migration.

Finally, before migrating to AFSOC network services, download the post-migration checklist from either the public drive (P) or the Cannon migration team site. This checklist has a series of steps that ensures data and preferences on the current ACC network successfully converts to AFSOC. Use this checklist after the scheduled migration and in the event any steps fail, call the Communications Focal Point at 784-2666 to report the failure. They will be able to help fix the failure, or escalate your issue to the AFSOC migration team for resolution.

The Cannon Communications Focal Point number is 784-2666.
