Change of Command today
Maj. Ryan Rowe will relinquish command of the 27th Special Operations Component Maintenance Squadron to Maj. Andrew Young at 9 a.m. today in Hangar 16. A reception will follow.
The uniform for military is uniform of the day and business casual for civilians.
Relay for Life begins tonight
This year’s Clovis/Curry County Relay for Life begins at 6:30 p.m. today at Ned Houk Park. The local Relay for Life will continue overnight through 10 a.m. Saturday.
Sponsored by the American Cancer Society, more than 4,800 relays are held nationwide to celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost and to raise money for cancer research.

Cannon Idol plans music auditions
Auditions for the “Cannon Idol” musical competition will take place from Noon to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Community Center in Clovis 801 Housing. More auditions at that site will be held May 17-18.
In addition, auditions on base will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and again on May 13 at The End Zone.
Finalists will be selected May 28.
The final “Cannon Idol” performance is scheduled for 7-10 p.m. June 28 at The Landing. Grand prize will be recording time and the winning song will be played on a local radio station.

Cannon clinic to close for training
The Cannon Air Force Base clinic and pharmacy will be closed May 8 in observance of a wing training day.
The second Thursday of every month has been designated as a wing training day by Col. Tim Leahy, 27th Special Operations Wing commander.

Tricare members can now refill and check the status of their prescriptions at the Tricare Web site.

Cannon Pet Policy
Upon registering for base housing, pet owners must register their dogs or cats and provide proof of current vaccination for rabies.
Those who obtain a pet after moving into government quarters must register them with the housing office within three days. Only two dogs or cats, or one of each, are permitted per household.
