Cannon Idol holds auditions
Auditions to become Cannon Air Force Base’s first “Cannon Idol” will take place from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Community Center in Clovis 801 Housing.
Idol hopefuls should bring their own music on CD. Finalists will be selected May 28.
The final “Cannon Idol” performance is scheduled for 7-10 p.m. June 28 at The Landing. Grand prize will be recording time and the winning song will be played on a local radio station.

Memorial Day affects trash collection
There will be no trash collection for base Military Family Housing on May 26, due to Memorial Day being a federal holiday.
Trash collection will be rescheduled for the following day. All other collections will remain the same.
Solid waste collection regulations
All refuse for collection on base at Military Family Housing must be placed at curbside before 7 a.m. on the day of collection.
Items for pickup must be less than 70 pounds, no longer than 6 feet and non-hazardous. Residents are responsible to deposit items larger than 70 pounds or longer than 6 feet in the 30-yard Dumpsters located near Housing Maintenance Building 1404. All large items must be placed inside the designated Dumpsters.
Residents who want to do their own tree trimming must cut the branches down to 6 feet or less and bundle them in bundles that do not exceed 70 pounds.
Tree trimmings must be placed alongside the rest of residents’ solid waste at curbside on trash collection day.
