Former SOCOM commander to speak at Cannon — Retired Air Force Gen. Charles Holland, former Commander, U.S. Special Operations Command, will address Cannon airmen and their families at 9:30 a.m. and 1:10 p.m. Friday at the base theater. He will also speak to base leadership during a professional development luncheon at the Pecos Trail Dining Facility at 11:30 a.m. Accompanying the general will be retired Air Force Col. John Carney Jr., president and chief executive officer of the Special Operations Warrior Foundation. Holland, who retired in 2003, is an independent consultant with an Air Force senior mentor role.

First Friday set — Cannon will host its monthly First Friday event 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at The Landing Zone. First Friday is an informal, family friendly event where individuals from on and off base can meet, mingle and dine at The Landing Zone. During the event both military members and local residents will have the opportunity to pose questions to base leadership on virtually any subject and for military members to pose questions to the community.
